Emergency Assistance for Rockingham County Families

The Salvation Army assists residents of Rockingham County facing challenges such as food insecurity, financial difficulties, homelessness, substance abuse, poor physical and mental health, and trauma. Funding from Reidsville Area Foundation will provide support to individuals and families struggling with food insecurity, homelessness, and housing instability. This funding will also provide utility assistance.

Services are available to anyone in need, especially those individuals and families living below the poverty line and struggling to make ends meet. The Salvation Army is dedicated to collaborating with individuals and families to help them overcome poverty by developing a plan for the future, setting realistic goals, and providing ongoing support to ensure their success. This is accomplished through case management and regular follow-ups.

AECD Capital Program

Auxano Economic Development Center (AEDC) is organized to provide supportive services, including professional and other consulting services to prospective entrepreneurs from disadvantaged communities. AEDC has focused much of its efforts on building relationships and community support networks in Reidsville. In that process AEDC identified financial assistance as an area of primary concern and is working to capitalize a CDFI to serve prospective entrepreneurs and small business owners. The AEDC CDFI is organized to provide loans, micro and small loans, to disadvantaged clients. The AEDCCDFI will operate as a traditional CDFI in many ways, but AEDC will also provide support services in the form of small business consulting and other support services will be coordinated on behalf of and provided to the same clients.

capacity & program strengthening

Sharon Community Outreach Corporation (SCOC) is in one of our most rural communities, filling a much-needed facility and resources gap in a space available to all, but with intentional efforts to build a space where historically excluded populations can gather and feel welcome. For the past two years, SCOC has partnered with the Kate B. Reynold’s Charitable Trust, receiving programmatic funds to deepen and expand the scale of community engagement efforts in targeted underserved communities in western Rockingham County to advance equitable opportunities.
 

RAF will support the organization by providing equipment and materials, as well as funding twenty pilot community empowerment and education events. The Center is a dedicated and
trusted community-based location ripe with expansion opportunity.
